description
This device illustrates the heat conduction rate property of metals.
Various metal rods are confined to the ring from insulating material. To the outer edge of the rods are attached identical pieces of plasticine.
The inner rod meeting is heated using a gas or alcohol flame, heat is transferred along the rods to their ends, and the plasticines soften and lose their solid structure.
The order of change in them indicatesthe heat conduction rate property of that metal.
