description
This device illustrates the heat conduction rate property of metals.
Various metal rods are confined to a metal disc. To the other end of the rods are attached identical pieces of plasticine.
The central disk is heated using a gas or alcohol flame, heat from the disk is transferred along the rods to their ends, and the plastics soften and fall out, one after the other.
The order of their fall indicates the property ofthe heat conduction rate of that metal.
